




Lauren Clay détient un BFA en peinture de la Savannah College of Art et un MFA en peinture et gravure de la Virginia Commonwealth University. Originaire d’Atlanta, en Géorgie, Clay vit et travaille actuellement à New York. Elle a exposé tant au niveau national qu’international, avec des expositions solo à Picture Theory, New York ; au Roswell Museum of Fine Arts, Nouveau-Mexique ; à Bosse & Baum, Londres ; et à Cris Worley Fine Arts, Dallas. Elle a également créé des installations spécifiques au site pour la Brooklyn Academy of Music, New York ; le Walter Elwood Museum, Amsterdam, New York ; et le magasin phare Hermes à Singapour.
En 2019 et 2017, Clay a collaboré avec l’artiste Peter Halley sur plusieurs projets à Venise, en Italie, en lien avec la Biennale de Venise 2019 ; à la Galerija Kula, Split, Croatie ; et au Paradise City, Séoul, Corée du Sud. Son travail a été critiqué dans des revues telles qu’Artforum, Art in America, The Brooklyn Rail, Sculpture Magazine, Bomb Magazine et Hi-Fructose Magazine. Clay a été la lauréate en 2019 de la bourse de la Pollock-Krasner Foundation, ainsi qu’une lauréate en 2020 d’une bourse de la Foundation for Contemporary Arts. En 2022, elle a reçu une bourse et été en résidence au programme Roswell Artists in Residence à Roswell, Nouveau-Mexique.
Le livre d’artiste en édition limitée de Clay, Subtle Body, 2016, publié par Small Editions NY, fait partie des collections des bibliothèques du Metropolitan Museum of Art, du Whitney Museum of American Art, du Brooklyn Museum of Art, du Walker Art Center, de la Yale Library, et d’autres.
