Let us step into these scenes.
Within these landscapes, suspended between dawn and dusk, geological openings emerge: gorges, fissures, spires, cliffs, volcanic chasms, shaded slopes and sunlit inclines, cirques and mountain crevasses. The torrents’ alluvial deposits have gathered here for centuries. We are given no warning, no preparation; realities are not recounted to us—they arrive, they befall us. And already our role becomes clear: a passage through other worlds. It is our turn to act, to look.
Such is the point of departure of the exhibition.
The paintings of Silvia Giordani echo and converse with one another. The artist presents and moves through scenes that echo one another : landscapes in constant transformation, where one image may lead to another, as part of an open sequence. They are not the same places, but places somehow connected, bound by a natural force, a telluric energy that runs through them and draws them into relation. A single pulse animates them all. Upon each canvas, a surface opens and closes, like a theatre curtain.
Fragmented narration, enigmatic realms poised between the visible and the concealed, unexplored realities that intimate a possibility and urge us onward. The hope of a path to follow. There, between these rock faces, shadows fold back, yielding to a boundless milieu, like a nomadic aperture. From canvas to canvas, one appropriates space, one is everywhere. Thus the unknown is invented. In secrecy, we advance. Step by step, we study the path. We resist the interpretations imposed by what unfolds; we are content simply to be, while remaining elsewhere—or else we attempt to slip through the narrow fissures of bodies, to galvanize ourselves and be revealed.
Behind these journeys, these excursions, lie other worlds, other expanses. Silvia Giordani draws our gaze toward a beyond—toward an interlude, a force of parallel lives—where each of us creates a framed space of our own, a space we carry with us along roads that never lead where we expect. They guide us instead toward the continuation of another path.
