Brown on brown / James Brown

Brown on brown

James Brown

04.09.2021 – 16.10.2021

2007: first encounter with James Brown through this work presented at the Bordas Gallery in Venice: “Internal order monotype I”. It was at this time that my passion for this artist was revealed and has never wavered, even asserting itself over time.

The PJ Gallery is pleased to present “Brown on brown”, an exhibition by James Brown that presents a selection of works on paper from 1989 to 2001. You will be able to see watercolors, monotypes, lithographs as well as stencils, collages and multiple interventions.

In the common space, the canvas cards present their surfacing and their depths, they coat their surfaces with blue shapes (Blue cell…), black, brown, white or sometimes even accompanied by emblematic characters of the sacred Native American land.

Then, beyond other supports we offer you a different vision of his work that reveals his “entomological memories”, a flowering of colors accompanies you towards his most beautiful face to face: “Happy Prince / Monotype Georges”

Let yourself be carried away by your emotion, so you disappear and reappear. The fifteen Indians are there to remind you.

The forms of the Hydrangea (Hydrangea Form) arrive which lead you to the “constellations” by the same gray line (Grey Form Line).
