Ian Healy
Ian Healy (né à Cork, Irlande, vit et travaille à Édimbourg) est un peintre dont la pratique explore avant tout l’énergie propre au geste pictural. Formé au Crawford College of Art & Design, il développe depuis les années 1990 un travail centré sur la présence du motif peint — qu’il s’agisse d’un visage, d’un objet ou d’une forme ambigüe — davantage que sur la narration.
Healy recherche ce moment où le familier bascule vers l’étrange, l’inquiétant ou le drôle. Ses œuvres, souvent titrées de manière pragmatique, privilégient la sensation immédiate : couleurs, lumière, douceur ou brutalité du trait créent une atmosphère plutôt qu’un récit. Ces dernières années, il fait entrer sa propre famille dans ses compositions, trouvant dans cette proximité une authenticité nouvelle, tout en continuant de puiser dans l’histoire de l’art.
