Born in Los Angeles in 1951, deceased in 2020 in Mexico.
2007: first encounter with James Brown through this work presented at the Bordas gallery in Venice: “Internal order monotype I”. It is at this period that our interest for this artist came to be and it didn’t lessen, more likely it became stronger with time.
Galerie PJ is pleased to present “Brown on brown”, an exhibition that showcases a selection of works on paper, dating between 1989 and 2001. There are watercolros, monotypes, lithographies as well as stencils, collages and multiples interventions.
Within common space, canvas-like cards present their surfacing and their deepness, they surround themselves of blue, black, brown or white shapes – sometimes accompanied of recognisable characters that come from sacred native american ground.
Then, beyond other formats, we seek another vision of his work, thus unveiling his “entomological memories”, florishing colors that take you to his most beautiful confrontation: “Happy Prince / Monotype Georges”.
Allow yourself to be transported by emotion, so that you can disappear and reappear.
The Fifteen Indians are here to remind you of it.
Come the shapes of hortensias (Hortensia shape), leading you to constellations through a same grey line (Line grey shape).
