On the occasion of his second solo exhibition at PJ Gallery, Kristian Jon Larsen invites us to discover and reconnect with the spirit of reassembled materials.

In the heart of Kødbyen, the former slaughterhouse district of Copenhagen, surrounded by old industrial buildings, Kristian Jon Larsen’s studio blends seamlessly into its environment.
It is this proximity that nourishes and sustains his work. His selection of materials frequently reflects the architectural heritage of historic slaughterhouses, often characterized by the use of steel, plastic and ceramic tiles. This combination embodies a dialogue between traditional craftsmanship, modern industrial practices, and the cultural narratives that interweave them.

His sculptures—born of slow, meticulous work rooted in traditional craftsmanship—offer us a fresh and contemporary perspective. A reimagined proposition.
Thus, he reveals to us these initially undefined architectures, which take over the gallery space for a month. Through their recontextualized presence, they resonate—a salutary form of tribute.

The eye lingers, scans, and finds its way.
