Everything comes from this repetitive ordinary day.
Today, Shinpei Okawa, Song Jeehye, and Lee Sojeong take us on a journey to discover their daily lives. A discreet gesture, a memory as it comes, an emotion that can be traveled in one direction or the other, or one can stop halfway and look at the canvas. These ordinary moments, almost invisible, brush against our backs, while in front of us opens the vast expanse of unknown lands. There is this light that gently touches a face, these soft colors that caress a memory, this sound that accompanies an everyday gesture. Fragments of bodies hide behind an amber curtain (Song Jeehye), a delicate presence appears at the window with curiosity (Lee Sojeong), while elsewhere, a lush and colorful abundance reinvents the familiar (Shinpei Okawa). Through these painted details, the artists subtly reveal fragments of an everyday life we think we know, which, from another angle, is constantly reinventing itself.
What remains of an ordinary day?
“It is with simple things that we make great lives.”
Jean Giono, Le Serpent d’étoiles.
